We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join a newly established project management team based in Manchester as Associate Director (Project Management).

Whilst Henry Riley has had an established presence in the Northwest region for many years, this position is to join a newly established team focussed on working on some of the largest and most exciting projects in Northwest and Yorkshire built environment.

We are proud to be partnered with numerous prestigious clients in providing cost and project management services on large-scale, exciting and complex projects across the residential (including build to rent), hospitality and industrial sectors. Projects we are involved in include medium and high-rise developments ranging in value from £50m to in excess of £250m.

As such we are looking to build and develop a project management team comprising of highly skilled Project Managers with prior experience working for reputable consultancies in similar partnerships with prestigious developers on large scale, complex projects.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the Associate Director role include:

  • Working as part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers whilst reporting into the Project Director and working closely with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure our client(s) achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive risk and programme controls and the provision of contractual advice.
  • Prepare full tender documentation, for consultant or contractor appointments, in line with the Henry Riley requirements and present these to the client for review and comment.
  • Administer the tender processes for consultant and contractor appointments.
  • Provide /obtain advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions and present to the client.
  • Acting in an Employers Agent role on behalf of our clients.
  • Administer / manage cost/variation procedures as applicable under the relevant Appointment or Contract
  • Attend and/or chair meetings within line with the appointment provisions.
  • Prepare financial and progress reports for the client, ensuring their specific data requirements are included.
  • Instigate value engineering and standardisation processes aimed at optimising efficiency for both Henry Riley and the client.
  • Propose innovative initiatives on service delivery for Henry Riley management consideration.
  • Prepare development and delivery programmes in Microsoft Project, ensuring the key deliverable objectives are understood and reported adequately.

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject such as Construction Project Management or a similar equivalent subject.
  • Membership to a relevant professional body such as the CIOB or RICS is essential.
  • A proven track record of working in a similar consultancy side Project Management role within a reputable construction consultancy.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills with demonstrable experience of working alongside reputable clients on large scale projects and developing successful and lasting partnerships.
  • Prior experience of acting in a lead, managerial role delivering large scale, complex construction projects within the residential, hospitality or industrial sectors is desired. Ideally projects in excess of £50m in value.
  • Experience of carrying out full pre and post contract duties in a Project Management role.
  • Experience of administering contracts under JCT contract, including design and build and traditional forms.
  • Prior experience of identifying new opportunities and assisting in the growth of a business / business unit would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • The ability to manage and mentor junior members of staff effectively.
