We are exciting to have an immediate opening for a Project Manager in our Birmingham office.

Our city centre Birmingham office is within a 5-10 minute walk from New Street Station making it an incredibly convenient location to work from. You will work in a busy and diverse office of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, and be employed on a hybrid contract giving you flexibility to manage your work from the office, site and home.

As a leading multi disciplinary consultancy you can expect to be involved in an exciting variety of projects which cover a full breadth of sectors within the built environment. This will include projects with the residential, retail, leisure and industrial sectors.

We have an industry leading, in-house APC programme which will provide you with advice and support to becoming a chartered Project Manager with a relevant professional body such as the RICS or CIOB.

Key tasks and responsibilities of the Project Manager role include:

  • Ensure the client achieves their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive risk and programme controls and the provision of contractual advice.
  • Prepare full tender documentation, for consultant or contractor appointments, in line with the Henry Riley requirements and present these to the client for review and comment.
  • Administer the tender processes for consultant and contractor appointments.
  • Provide /obtain advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions and present to the client.
  • Acting in an Employers Agent role on behalf of our clients.
  • Administer / manage cost/variation procedures as applicable under the relevant Appointment or Contract
  • Attend and/or chair meetings within line with the appointment provisions.
  • Prepare financial and progress reports for the client, ensuring their specific data requirements are included.
  • Instigate value engineering and standardisation processes aimed at optimising efficiency for both Henry Riley and the client.
  • Propose innovative initiatives on service delivery for Henry Riley management consideration.
  • Prepare development and delivery programmes in Microsoft Project, ensuring the key deliverable objectives are understood and reported adequately.

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject such as Construction Project Management or a similar equivalent.
  • Prior experience working in a construction Project Manager role for a similar construction consultancy is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a client facing role as a Project Manager where you have formed strong and lasting relationships with the client.
  • Proven experience of project managing large scale construction projects within the built environment is essential.
  • Experience of carrying out full pre and post contract duties in a Project Management role.
  • Experience of administering contracts under JCT contract, including design and build and traditional forms.
